One Week

One week ago, I was staring at amazement at this precious baby girl, still in shock that she was mine and that she was here. This first week has been utterly blissful. I am not sure if it's because things get easier each time, or if she (so far) is just a miraculously easy baby. But whatever the reason, I will take it!

Taylor eats, sleeps, and poops on repeat. Her nights are pretty peaceful too. I feed her right before I go to bed, usually around 10:00. I change her into a little gown and her nuroo swaddle. She sleeps for close to 4 hours. Then we're up to feed, burp, and back to sleep. The next feeding usually comes between 5-6 and I change her diaper and lay her down again. I then, either get up with the big kids at this time, or rest for another hour or so while the morning routines get started without me. I realize much can change, but the first week has felt nicely routine, for now.

I should add, that none of this would be nearly as easy if Grammie weren't here with us. She is taking both kids to school and picking them both up in the afternoons. She's meal planning and shopping for us. She's pretty much doing it all right now, which makes my job pretty darn easy. I get to sit and stare at a precious newborn alllll day long. And I LOVE it!

Earlier this week, both big kids were at school. Dustin was at the dentist and Grammie was out running errands. While my mom's feeling almost back to 100% now, she's still not completely cleared to hold and cuddle Taylor. I know that that time is coming very soon. But fortunately she has been over to see Taylor. On this afternoon, I gave her a call and asked if she wouldn't mind coming over and taking a few pictures of Tay and I while the house was quiet and my hair was washed. :)

I am so thankful for these pictures that capture the most beautiful first week with my Taylor Joy.

Thanks Momma, for these priceless pictures of me and my girl. I never want to forget how perfect her little, squishy face and arms were in this first week of life. Now if only photographs could capture the newborn smell... now that would be perfect!
