New Year's Eve was the most gorgeous day filled with sun and warmer temperatures. We went on a little family adventure (minus Tay who stayed home to nap with Gram). A short drive from here are the mushroom caves otherwise known as "Annie's Canyon." It was the perfect day to get outside and explore some of the gorgeous coastal scenery.
After our little hike we hit up some yummy Mexican food lunch and then off to the beach for more fun in the sun.
Back at home, this little peanut was ready to party. She and Gram had gone out for some decorations.
After dinner, my parents and Oma came to ring in the east coast version of the new year with us. My mom worked on making a Dutch NYE staple, Oliebollen which translates to "oil balls." And that they are, my friends. Dough dropped in frying oil and then sprinkled with powdered sugar. Similar to a delicious funnel cake.
Oma had a very special assistance in the kitchen with her this year.
And another one to sprinkle on the powdered sugar.
Cheers! This kid was pounding the oliebollen like a champ. It caught up with him later, though.
Even Molly enjoyed the cozy night in with us.
Donovan tried hard to keep himself awake but finally surrendered himself to bed around 11. Dustin and I barely kept our eyes open watching tv in bed until midnight when we were awoken shortly after by the oliebollen king who had thrown up all over his floor and again once more after that.
Lesson in moderation learned.
Cheers to 2020!
